The bunting is up and local older residents of Barry and the surrounding areas are in high spirits to mark the start of the Jubilee celebrations for charity, Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale. The charity’s long-standing café and Wellbeing Centre hosted a Jubilee Afternoon Tea on Monday 30th May 2022 with over 30 attendees all enjoying afternoon tea with savoury and sweet snacks, a quiz and a raffle. The event is part of the ongoing fundraising efforts of the charity to keep the centre up and running to serve and support the many older residents who attend every week.

Nicola Jones, the Wellbeing Centre Manager was thrilled with the turnout and seeing everyone coming together to celebrate the forthcoming Platinum Jubilee.

She commented “The Wellbeing Centre is proud to be part of the thriving community on Barry’s Holton Road. All year round we offer information, support, classes and a relaxing and welcoming environment for people to come together for a cuppa and to stay connected. Myself, my colleagues and our fantastic volunteers have thoroughly enjoyed putting on this event. Providing a place to ensure older people do not face isolation is at the heart of what we do all year round.”

To find out more about the Wellbeing Centre, you can call Nicola on 01446 732385 or simply pop in for a friendly welcome.
